End of Days. 1999. USA.

Someone had to make a big budget end of the world type movie leading up to the year 2000, which this movie does not realise is not the end of the millennium, that would be another twelve months, but that is Hollywood logic, and this movie contains little if any realistic logic at all.

It is a rather dopey plot of Satan coming to earth to have a child between eleven PM and midnight on new years eve, New York time of course, because it would all be about the USA, being the centre of the know universe where anything significant happens in the world of movies, and of course Satan has to fight Arnie, the messianic figure of the movie.

The typical overblown, full on Biblical symbolism was ironic in that the words spoken were so far from what the Bible actually says - example a priest, played by Rod Steiger, who must have been desperate for money to do this, says God didn't come to save us, the scripture says we should save ourselves. Really? Exactly where - only in Hollywood. Also the symbolism used was not what the Bible says, it is to use a blunt term total rubbish!

This type of drivel spooned up to the masses as a credible thriller can only be called junk. It was a dire mess of a movie and not worth the film used to make it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger = 24/31.

Rod Steiger = 13/90.

My rating = 2/10.
