Expectations can be a powerful thing, and so for some reason I was expecting this to be an animated movie and was quite surprised to see a live action movie, with the Aliens looking like Muppet's.
Which brings about another hang-up - I can't take a Muppet/human interaction seriously. The Muppets as a show was fun, the movies were largely fun, but not as a serious thing. It was why I could never get into the series Farscape. So the Muppet/human interaction here just looked silly.
Also the title of the movie led me to believe that it was about Aliens living in an attic and I made a whole plot in my mind, none of which had any relation, it turns out to the reality of this movie which was about some sort of alien invasion being planned and scout aliens needing to go under the house to get some device under ground and so started from the attic.
The movie was quite dumb and had the normal gags and scenes you would expect, there was nothing overtly grabbing in it though and on the whole was below average.
