Woody Harrelson plays the title character, 'super-hero' Defendor, fighting against Captain Industry and and his drug distribution network.
Except, Woody is actually Arthur Poppington, an everyday guy who believes he is Defendor. Kat Dennings plays a teenager he befriends, and Sandra Oh plays his psychiatrist.
This sort of movie could easily have been a train wreck, but with the great performances of Dennings, Oh, Elias Koteaas, and in particular Harrelson, this is actually a fine drama, with smatterings of comedy and action.
It is not your regular super-hero movie for sure, but it is an interesting spin on the genre, and in the end a good meditation on what is a hero.
