John Wayne stars as a hard nosed Sergeant in the US Marines during World War II.
He trains a group of marines to fight, leading up to the Iwo Jima mission and the famous flag planting ceremony, which was later told in Eastwood's version.
This one is more a flag waving one, but had some very good performances and was a solid film.
Forrest Tucker, famous for his later role in the series F-Troop is in this as well.
