Werner Herzog has reinterpreted the 1992 movie Bad Lieutenant, with the title role here played by Nicholas Cage, as opposed to Harvey Keitel in the original.
I believed the original was an ugly movie, and lacked any redeeming characters, this one comes off a lot better, thanks to a stronger script, better direction, and a much better performance in the lead role. Yes Cage outshines Keitel!
The supporting roles are better in this film and the ending was far less predictable.
This is not a brilliant movie, no mistaking that, but it is a good solid movie.
I rate it 7 out of 10.
